Hip Pain & Mobility Fort McMurray

If you’re reading this, you’re probably typing things like:

“Why is my leg pain worse when I sit?”

“Sharp pain from lower back to butt to calf”

“Numbness/tingling in foot”

“Sciatica won’t go away—what actually works?”

And you’re exhausted because you’ve tried stretching, rest, maybe physio or massage… and the pain still comes back.

That’s not because you’re “broken.” Most of the time it’s because sciatica isn’t one single problem — it’s a pattern.

What sciatica can feel like (symptoms people search for)

Sciatica often shows up as:

Pain starting in the lower back or buttock and running down the leg

Burning, electrical, stabbing sensations

Numbness, tingling, or “pins and needles” in the calf/foot

Tightness that feels like “my hip is jammed” or “my glute won’t relax”

Pain that flares with sitting, driving, bending, coughing, or getting up from a chair

A feeling that one leg is weak or doesn’t “fire” properly

Sometimes it’s constant. Sometimes it hits like a lightning bolt only at certain moments. Either way, it steals your focus at work, at home, even when you’re trying to sleep.

Why it happens (and why it keeps coming back)

Sciatica is a symptom of irritation — usually involving the sciatic nerve — but the reason it’s irritated can differ. Common contributors include:

Lower back joints/discs under stress

Tight or overloaded hip muscles (including deep stabilizers)

Pelvic rotation or imbalance from long sitting, standing, or one-sided activity

A nervous system stuck in “guard mode” from stress + chronic tension

Movement restrictions in the low back, hips, or mid-back causing compensation

That’s why some people get temporary relief from stretching or massage… but it returns when the true driver isn’t addressed.

My approach: find the driver, not just the pain

I’m an Osteopath based in Downtown Fort McMurray. Many of my clients are busy professionals — bankers, nurses, executives, desk workers, factory workers — people who have to function even while in pain. A sciatica session with me isn’t rushed and it isn’t guesswork. I use a full assessment + hands-on osteopathic treatment to identify:

What movements trigger your symptoms

What areas are restricted or overworking

Which tissues are protecting and tightening

Where your body is compensating (often not where you feel pain)

Then we treat the key restrictions and patterns not just the spot that hurts today.

What to expect in your 90-minute session

This session is designed to give you clarity and results:

Thorough assessment

We look at posture, walking pattern, mobility, and how your spine/hips are moving.

Targeted hands-on treatment

Focused osteopathic manual therapy to reduce irritation, restore mobility, and release the overload pattern.

Re-test and confirm change

We reassess what improved and what still needs attention.

Simple plan to make results stick

You leave with clear next steps — often small changes that stop the flare-ups from returning.

A real-world example (what “pattern” looks like)

Imagine someone who sits all day at a downtown office. The pain starts in the right buttock, shoots down the leg, and gets worse after driving. They stretch the hamstring constantly, but nothing holds. When we assess, the hamstring isn’t the root issue. The real driver can be a combination of:

restricted hip rotation

lower back stiffness

deep glute guarding

a nervous system that’s been bracing for months

When we restore hip/spine mechanics and calm the guarding, the nerve irritation often reduces and the leg finally stops feeling “on fire.”

When to get help urgently

If you have loss of bowel/bladder control, progressive weakness, or numbness in the groin/saddle area, seek urgent medical attention immediately. For most other cases, early skilled assessment can prevent months of compensation.

Book your sciatica session downtown

If sciatica has been running your life — and you’re tired of temporary fixes — this is the right next step.
